Korsteel Rubber Jointed Gag Bit

The Korsteel Rubber Mouth Gag Bit is a useful bit for horses who may hang or fall on their forehand. Gag bits help the rider to raise the horse's head. A special gag cheek runs through the small holes in the cheek piece and the rein attaches to a loop on the end of this cheek. When the rein is pulled, the cheek pulls through the holes causing the bit to lift up and pull on the corners of the mouth (lips). The horse will raise his head in reaction allowing the rider to rebalance him. This is a popular bit cross country as it allows for quick correction before fences. The rubber mouthpiece is warmer than stainless steel and also softer on the tongue, bars and lips. Some riders choose to ride the gag bit with two reins, one on the bit ring and one on the gag ring.
