Mattes Saddle Fix System is an innovative concept that simply attaches the pad to the gullet of the saddle, keeping it secure and perfectly straight at all times. One clip attaches to the pommel while the other clip attaches to the cantle, keeping the pad in place without leaving marks on the saddle. Center of pad lodges high in the gullet to allow complete freedom of the spine. Can be used with correction pads. One size fits all saddles.
All Mattes pads are currently manufactured with billet keepers and 2 slits in the spine. When using the Mattes Saddle Fix System, it is recommended that you cut off the billet keepers. The Saddle Fix System runs along the underside of your pad and emerges through the slits in the spine. The hooks on either end gently grip your saddle to hold the pad in place.

Well worth trying if your horse gets saddle pad rubs.

My horse got a bad rub on his withers from a saddle pad which took a long time to fully heal. I discovered that the Mattes saddle pads were the best for him due to the softness of the lambs wool. However, even using the Mattes pad began to irritate the spot. The Saddle Fix solved the problem. The Mattes saddle pad now stays up in the gullet of my saddle from front to back and his spine and withers are free from any rubs. I've been using the Saddle Fix for about 10 months now and my horse's withers hair is finally growing back in fully. It is a bit of a pain to get the ribbon adjusted properly, but well worth it to ensure my horse no longer has a sore on his withers.
Shoddy, useless product

This is a cheap ribbon with a clip on either end. The adjustment clip comes in two parts, one of which is small, losable and irreplaceable. I tried this gadget on two different saddles, one a Stubben, and the clips did not hold on either one. The ribbon is barely long enough for an 18" seat. I wonder about a company that has a big enough problem with its pads that it routinely sells an overpriced solution separately. The half pads definitely slip.
