White Lightning Gel is an equine hoof treatment made with active chlorine dioxide solution which has been shown to aggressively neutralize bacteria, fungus and yeast. Combining White Lightning with an equal part of vinegar enables you to eliminate hoof rot, thrush, scratches, white line disease and other skin fungus on contact.
The chlorine in White Lightning helps to remove the biofilm of bacteria and fungus, leaving the organisms vulnerable to oxygen which may help to kill them. The solution works quickly so that organisms have little time to adapt and develop a tolerance. While it creates a harsh environment for microorganisms, it will not harm living tissue.
Easy to use White Lightning Gel formula allows for application directly to the hoof and already contains the active chlorine dioxide solution (no mixing required). It is recommended that you apply the gel 2-3 times per week for 4-6 weeks for the treatment of thrush or white line disease and then 1-2 times weekly until the hoof has completely grown out. For the treatment of skin fungus, the gel can be applied 2-3 times per week for 2 weeks and then 1-2 times per week until it is healed.
When I see a hard rain coming I know to pull this sucker out for my horse's hooves. The liquid you mix with vinegar in a hoof sock or boot and have to capture the gas inside so it doesn't escape and will work it's magic. When you empty it you should see black specks or dead fungus that came out.
BUT if you want to use it while you ride I just put the GEL over the worry spot and placed duct tape to keep it there. When I was done and removed the tape it kept the spot clean and fought bacteria while I rode.
I had a huge issue with white line disease for over a year. This was the ONLY thing besides a great Equine Therapist and my Farrier to kill the fungus inside his hoof. I now always keep a bottle or gel around the barn as an incase. Why worry or cause yourself stress. My horse actively competes and I wanted the reassurance his feet are fungus free in the southern humidity.
