The E. A. Mattes Platinum Contour Quilt Correction pad has the same anatomically correct topline of the sheepskin pads that follows the contours of the horse's back and allows for a perfect fit under the saddle. Eliminate extra bulk by using just 1 pad, with shimmable pockets included on this pad, there is no need for an additional half pad to make adjustments. Simplify your tack and create a closer feel between you and your horse.

MATTES uses high quality cotton/polyester blend quilted fabric to craft their pads. The core of the saddle pad is quilted with a layer of POLY-FLEX (a deep-needled polyester felt) that is used to maintain the shape of the pad and spread the pressure. Polyester wadding provides padding to the pad. Mattes pads do not use foam, neoprene or gel to ensure the pad remains breathable.

The SPINEFREE^®design reliably prevents any pressure around the withers and spine. The secure SADDLE-FIX^® system allows the top seam of the saddle pad to sit comfortably in the gullet of the saddle.

The Mattes CORRECTION^® System helps maintain balance and straightness for horses that change form through a season or have asymmetries. POLY-FLEX Shims are resilient, do not bottom out like foam or other materials, and allow incremental adjustments to be made easily. The shims are 5mm thick, designed to be layered, and are easily trimmed with scissors to taper the ends and create a pressure free fit if multiple shims are necessary.

The CORRECTION^® System comes with 5 mm-thick felt shims (POLY-FLEX^®) for each pocket, offering the same pressure relief as a good quality new saddle, padded with wool and horsehair. MATTES developed the CORRECTION^® System to allow flexible and easy changes to saddle fit by up to 30 mm: to easily compensate for the rapid physical development of young horses in training, for horses that have been out of work for some time, or for trained horses which change shape a lot during the competition season, whenever quick alterations are needed. Simply add extra shims, or just as importantly, remove them, to suit the horse’s changing shape. It is crucial to balance out long-term irregularities in conformation. These should never be corrected by adjusting the saddle itself.
