The Mattes Platinum Half Pad is a go to pad all over the world. Made from 100% Natural sheepskin of the highest quality, fitted to high quality cotton/polyester blend quilted fabric - to create a luxurious half pad. With no back rolls, this pad fits neatly under the saddle to provide cushioning and support. Mattes pads offer unsurpassed quality, function, durability and appearance. Natural sheepskin provides heat dissemination and breathability, as well as the capability to eliminate friction and bounce.

The SPINEFREE^® design reliably prevents any pressure around the withers and spine. The secure SADDLE-FIX® system allows the top seam of the half-pad to sit neatly in the gullet of the saddle.

The core of these half-pads is made of two layers: POLY-FLEX® (a deep-needled polyester felt) is used to maintain the shape and spread the pressure, while polyester wadding provides padding. We completely avoid foam, neoprene or gel, making the whole pad breathable.

Mattes sheepskin should be dried thoroughly after each ride or at the end of each day. Let it air dry overnight, upside down and brush the wool with a stiff brush to loosen up and remove dirt and hair. The Mattes special detergent, MELP, is highly concentrated and designed for sheepskin products. Regular detergents can easily harden the leather and can render the wool brittle or matted. Machine washable on gentle cycle in cold water. Air fluff in dryer with no heat. Do not dry completely, while still damp gently pull into shape. Lay flat to finish drying. Do not expose to sun or dry on a radiator. Do not use chlorine bleach.
